In article validated procedure o f calculation o f anting depth in a limit contour o f open pit side for specific minmg-cn idgeological conditions. As criterion for the choice o f optimum height ofa working ledge it is expedient to accept a minimum o f operational costs o f technological processes, on chilling, excavator, transport, explosive operations and works on secondary crushing o fboulder. Developed the methodology' allows to count on design stages the optiman height of working ledges at gross dredging of mineral.
