REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FORMAT AND SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES

(adapted to international standards and SCOPUS requirements)

In order to prepare the journal “Mining Bulletin of Uzbekistan” for inclusion in international analytical databases (including Scopus), articles submitted for publication must comply with internationally recognized standards for scientific journals. These requirements apply both to the scientific content and to the structure, style of presentation, and formatting of manuscripts.

General Requirements

  1. The journal “Mining Bulletin of Uzbekistan” accepts for publication original scientific and scientific-technical articles that reflect the results of research and scientific activities and contain recommendations for the practical application of the issues addressed. Articles are accepted in the following areas:
  • Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering
  • Industrial Safety and Environmental Protection
  • Automation and Control of Technological Processes
  • Geotechnology (Underground, Open-Pit and Construction)
  • Geomechanics, Mine Surveying and Geodesy

Review articles that meet the criteria for primary scientific publications are also accepted in the above-mentioned areas.

  1. The article must not have been previously published or submitted for consideration to another journal. The authors are responsible for the originality of the materials submitted to the editorial office, including figures, the correct formatting of citations, and the absence of improper borrowings. Articles with an originality level of less than 80%, or those that substantially repeat the authors’ previous publications, may be rejected.

If artificial intelligence (AI) is used in the preparation of the article, the author(s) must openly disclose which chatbots were used and what tasks were assigned to them. A detailed description of the interaction with chatbots (including all prompts) should be provided in the “Methods” section. In addition, the use of AI must be indicated in the “Acknowledgments” section. The author(s) bear full responsibility for all results obtained with the help of AI (they must ensure the reliability of the materials, balanced interpretation, absence of plagiarism, and proper references to primary sources).

  1. Articles by both Uzbek and foreign researchers are accepted for publication. The languages of publication are Uzbek (Latin script), Russian, or English. The title of the article, abstract, keywords, author information, figure captions, and table titles must be provided in three languages.
  2. Articles with a length of at least 3500 words (minimum 4 pages of text) are accepted for publication. The file format must be .doc or .docx (Microsoft Word).

Technical Requirements for Article Formatting

  1. Microsoft Word for Windows should be used to prepare the text, formulas, and tables. Before typing the text, set the following parameters in the text editor: page format A4 (210 × 297 mm); margins 2 cm on all sides; font Arial Narrow, size 9; line spacing 1; justified alignment; paragraph indent 0.5 cm; page orientation portrait.
  2. The UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) index corresponding to the topic of the scientific article should be indicated in the upper right corner of the article. The UDC index is written without explanations, before the title of the article, and aligned to the right.
  3. Title formatting. The title should be written in uppercase letters, bold font, and center aligned. The article title must be informative, concise, and consistent with the scientific style of the text. Abbreviations, acronyms, and formulas are not allowed, and the maximum number of words is 15.
  4. After one line, indicate the following information:
  • (bold italic, right aligned) — full name of the author;
  • on the next line (italic, right aligned) — academic degree, academic title, position, name of the university, country, city;
  • on the next line (italic, right aligned) — author’s ORCID ID;
  • on the next line (italic, right aligned) — contact e-mail.

If there are multiple authors, this information must be repeated for each author.

It is mandatory to attach photographs of the authors (official style, white background, high quality), size 3 × 4 cm.

  1. Abstract. In accordance with the requirements of international databases, the abstract should fully reflect the content of the article, including the description of the main topic, the research problem, the purpose of the study, the main methods, the results of the research, and the main conclusions. The abstract should also indicate what new contribution the article makes compared to other related works on the same topic.The abstract length should be 220–250 words and must be provided in Uzbek, Russian, and English.
  2. Keywords. Provide 10–12 stable keyword phrases that will be used for searching the article. Abbreviations and acronyms are not allowed.

Reminder: The title of the article, abstract, keywords, author information, figure captions, and table titles must be provided in Russian, Uzbek (Latin script), and English.

  1. The material of the article should be presented briefly and in a scientific-informational style, without repeating the data from tables and figures in the text. References to literature, tables, and figures should be provided within the text. Citations to the literature should be indicated by numbers corresponding to the order of the sources in the reference list, and the reference number should be placed in square brackets.

The main part of the article must be clearly structured:

— Introduction. This section should reflect the relevance of the research topic, provide a review of the literature on the subject, define the research problem, and formulate the aim and objectives of the study.

— Materials and Methods. This section should describe the research methods and experimental (or observational) procedures in sufficient detail to allow other researchers and practitioners to replicate the results using only the information provided in the article. It should include a description of materials, instruments, equipment, sample selection, and experimental conditions. The section must ensure the reproducibility of the research results, indicating the origin of equipment and materials, methods of statistical data processing, and other approaches that ensure reproducibility.

— Results. This section should present the actual results of the study, including text, tables, graphs, diagrams, equations, photographs, and figures.

— Discussion.The typical structure of this section includes:
▪ explanations of the obtained results;
▪ which specific features of the proposed solutions provide advantages;
▪ what can be considered the advantages of this research compared with similar studies;
▪ the limitations or shortcomings of the study;
▪ directions for further research and possible challenges that may arise.

— Conclusion. A brief summary of the results of the article’s sections without repeating the formulations already presented in the text.

— Acknowledgments. A section for expressing gratitude to colleagues who assisted in the preparation of the article.

  1. Figures included in the article must be clear and suitable for computer reproduction. They should not be overloaded with secondary data that are not directly related to the text of the article. Photographs and figures must be accompanied by figure captions. Each figure should also be submitted as a separate file. Accepted figure formats: JPEG, TIFF, EPS, PSD, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. All letter and numerical symbols used in the figures must be explained either in the main text or in the figure captions. Labels and other markings in graphs and figures must be clear and easily readable.
  2. Tables in the article must have a title and number. A reference to the table should be indicated in parentheses at the appropriate place in the text.
  3. Mathematical formulas should be prepared using the MathType equation editor.
  4. The author must indicate the section (topic, category, or direction) to which the article or theses belong.

Requirements for Formatting the References

  1. After one line from the main text, the heading “References” (in bold font) should be provided. The list of sources used must be arranged in the order of citation and formatted strictly in accordance with the APA style. When preparing the reference list, the following requirements should be observed:
  • References in the text should be indicated in the order of their appearance using sequential numbers in square brackets. The reference list must contain at least 5 sources.
  • The level of self-citation in the article must not exceed 25% of the total number of references. It is mandatory to cite recent sources (published after 2000) and foreign publications, which must constitute at least 20% of the total references used.
  • The reference list must include at least one citation to scientific research indexed in scientometric databases such as Scopus or Web of Science.
  • Before including a source in the reference list, it is necessary to determine in which language(s) the original article was published. If the article was published only in Russian, it should appear in Russian in the Russian reference list, and in English in the References section, with the note [In Russ]. If the article was published simultaneously in Russian and English, the note [In Russ] should not be added.
  • References to electronic resources (Internet) must include the description of the electronic source (author, title), the URL of the web page, and the date of access.
  • References to internet sources containing advertising information, general web links, company websites, anonymous documents, dissertations, textbooks, teaching and methodological manuals, and reference books are not allowed.
